About Anna

Dr. Anna Engels is a Co-Founder of Yoga Lab Studio in State College, PA.  She is a yoga teacher registered at the E-RYT 500 and YACEP levels with Yoga Alliance.  Her yoga teaching and practice combines her background in psychology with a strong grounding in anatomy and functional movement to create intelligent and fun sequences that flow with the breath and connect you to your core. She has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, and her clinical interests and academic research focus on stress, anxiety, depression, and their associated patterns of brain activity using fMRI. She is also a photographer and loves traveling the world, capturing moments of beauty.  She currently teaches yoga at Yoga Lab and in the Penn State Kinesiology Department.  She is also available for private sessions.

Strong Foundations Theme Tonight:
“Graffiti on a Tuesday Night”
5:45-7:15pm at Yoga Lab

Remember fingerpaint? 
What would it be like if we painted the wall 
during a yoga practice?

Footprints
Handprints
Forearm lines
Back silhouettes
Butterfly butt prints
Knee dots
Toeprints
Fingerprints 
With each part of the body making its mark, 
what a painting it would be!
There are so many ways to use the wall!

Tonight will be a whole class at the wall -- feeling the engagement of the glutes, strengthening and lengthening the psoas, setting the pelvis to neutral, so that when you lift off you can fly and you might not even need the wall, but it’s got your back. 

Using just a wall, a mat, your body, and your imagination (since real fingerpaint would be a little too slippery)…
